WhatsApp Begins Beta Testing of Its New Premium Subscription Service

WhatsApp, a mega-popular messaging platform owned by Meta, is working hard to introduce its new premium subscription service, which will likely be attuned to the needs of businesses and include paid features that are rarely used by average users.

As reported by WABetaInfo, the instant messaging and calling service has recently made premium subscriptions available to a limited number of beta testers who can now access the Premium menu from their business accounts and get a try at some of the extra functionality.

One of the most anticipated features in the new Premium subscription is customizable contact URLs, which can be altered every three months and should provide customers with an easier way to find and connect to businesses. Also exciting is the ability to simultaneously link up to 10 devices to a single corporate WhatsApp account, meaning a company can assign a specific chat to a specific device to be managed by a specific person. One last but not least handy feature we presently know of is an option to make video calls featuring 32 participants.

As it is only in beta testing, it is currently unknown which other features it will have, what the price of the premium subscription service will be, or when WhatsApp is planning to roll out the paid version of the app to everybody. In the meantime, Mark Zuckerberg announced WhatsApp is getting ready to introduce a Call Links feature that will enable users to create and share links to a call with a quick tap within the app. When it is released, the new functionality should work in pretty much the same way as Google Meet and Microsoft Teams call links.

Are you going to buy a premium subscription for your WhatsApp business account when it is out? Which features do you think should be included in the new paid package? Feel free to comment below!
