Redefining Control: The Future of Gaming with the Advanced Controller
This article introduces a refined control device for the upcoming system that builds on the success of its predecessor while offering substantial improvements. Along with new Joy-Con 2 accessories, the advanced controller for the new console will be available separately and carries a higher price tag.
The designers have completely rethought the controller’s construction even though at first glance it bears a strong resemblance to the previous version. The control sticks, for example, have been engineered to operate more silently and with a remarkably smooth trajectory, even when pushed to their limits. Internal evaluations have even reached the conclusion that this design represents the ultimate achievement in controller development.
Other modifications include a grip inspired by classic controllers with a slimmer profile to allow greater ease for finger movement. Additionally, the controller features new elements such as an enhanced audio jack for wired headset connectivity and two additional customizable buttons, labeled GL and GR. Users can assign these buttons to various functions; for example, one might set the capture function to one of these buttons to snap images while keeping a firm grip on the primary control stick.
Further integrated features include HD Rumble 2, advanced motion controls, and integrated amiibo functionality. It is designed exclusively for the new system, though existing pro controllers from the previous generation will still be compatible. The advanced controller will retail at $79.99 or 89.99 euros, marking an increase in price by approximately 20 units compared to its predecessor.
Overall, the shift to the new system signals a broader trend toward premium accessories, indicating that consumers should expect the new Switch 2 lineup to carry higher overall costs than those associated with the original console.
