Midnight Society Shuts Down: A Farewell to Promising Game Development and Community Engagement

The recent developments surrounding Midnight Society have taken a significant turn, leading to the closure of the studio and the dismissal of its entire workforce. Initially founded by a group of seasoned industry professionals along with influencer Guy Beahm, widely recognized by his gaming alias Dr. Disrespect, the studio set out to foster community-oriented gaming experiences. However, challenges arose with controversies linked to Dr. Disrespect, which created considerable obstacles for the studio, culminating in layoffs last September and jeopardizing the studio's viability.

In a new announcement posted on social media, Midnight Society announced its decision to cease operations, resulting in the layoff of all 55 staff members. The company is discontinuing its work on Deadrop and is reportedly working to help its former employees find positions at other gaming studios. The announcement underscores the struggles faced by the organization over the past year.

One significant concern remains unaddressed: the impact of this closure on the Founders who contributed early funding to the development of Deadrop. To date, Midnight Society has not clarified whether these investors will receive refunds for their financial support towards the game's progress.
