Khaos Reigns Expansion Announced for Mortal Kombat 1 with New Story, Kombat Pack 2, and the Return of Animalities

Netherrealm Studios has revealed the Khaos Reigns expansion for Mortal Kombat 1, promising an exciting array of content that will surely delight fans of the series. This new addition includes a fresh story mode, the introduction of Kombat Pack 2, and the comeback of a beloved feature from the franchise's history.

The trailer for Khaos Reigns, which runs for four minutes, unveils the new story mode. It features a different timeline version of Havik who emerges as the main antagonist. Players will control their favorite limb-chopping characters to thwart his nefarious plans. As expected, the game's high graphical fidelity and intense violence are prominently displayed, ensuring that fans will eagerly consume this fresh storyline when Khaos Reigns is available on September 24, 2024.

Alongside the new narrative, Khaos Reigns will introduce Kombat Pack 2. This new pack will add six characters to Mortal Kombat 1 as downloadable content. On the release day, Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot will be available. The pack will also feature three guest characters: Scream's Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian (with Arnold Schwarzenegger's likeness), and Terminator 2: Judgment Day's T-1000 (portrayed by Robert Patrick). Additionally, the Khaos Reigns bundle incorporates the first Kombat Pack, which includes Quan-Chi, Ermac, Takeda, Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker.

Moreover, Khaos Reigns will reintroduce a fan-favorite feature from the Mortal Kombat series as a free update: Animalities. These unique Fatality animations transform your fighter into a creature to violently finish off the opponent. The trailer reveals various transformations, such as a hyena, pufferfish, and preying mantis, each delivering predictably gory results.
