It probably sounds strange, but that is true: you can now spend some time wandering around an art gallery in Fortnite. The exhibition is set in the Serpentine gallery, and it is the “New Fiction” created by pop artists Brian Donnelly, more famous under the nickname Kaws. There you can see his most iconic works like “Companion” – the little statue of a person with a big skull – and some beautiful paintings.
This exhibition is a recreation of the ongoing art performance in London. Of course, it’s not the first time something like this occurred on Fortnite: “Your Progress Will Be Saved” installation from 2020 and “Kid A Mnesia” collab with Radiohead had more attention and surprise to them. It seems more simple, as all you can do here is explore the halls of the Serpentine gallery and enjoy all of the presented works.
The pleasantly exciting thing is that you can find this exhibition in the main hub. You need to pick the Creative mode option, and your character will load in the garden just near the gallery. You can take your time to visit the new games presented in the hub, but it would be quite hard to miss a giant red statue of Companion, so eventually, you will be tempted to visit the place.
Fortnite has been actively implementing cultural references into the game. From massive musical events like the Ariana Grande concert to built-in car radio in the vehicles in the game. You could’ve also seen loading screens from such outstanding creators as Yuko Shimizu and Christian Ward. Kaws has previously made his appearance in the game with a playable character.
Donnelly has said that these projects are very important to build a connection with the growing generation. It is one of the ways to let them explore such an event they might’ve missed in real life.
