Poppy Playtime is the most famous horror game of late 2021. But can you play Poppy Playtime on PlayStation or Xbox? If you search for a short answer, it is “no”. If you want to give it a little more time, then read why Poppy Playtime can make it to PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox Series S/X.
The gameplay of Poppy Playtime fits the console experience very well. It’s a first-person survival horror where you see the environment through the eyes of your character. Games like this are better with a gamepad than with a keyboard-and-mouse setup. So, the experience would be great on a console, much better than when you’re sitting at a PC, pressing keys, and turning the mouse.
At the same time, the game sells exceptionally well on Steam, so the PC market is showing the game’s potential. It doesn’t matter whether the developers of it will initiate the process or Sony or Microsoft will make them an offer they can’t refuse. Still, Poppy Playtime is now out of the underground and into the mainstream.
It’s not too late for further development. So far, only the first episode of the game has been released, and the next ones will be sold separately. It would be logical to have the game enter other platforms by the moment Episode 2 arrives. Frankly speaking, we hope Netflix joins the race, and then we’ll see seasons rather than episodes.
Anyway, no publisher has so far announced the release of Poppy Playtime on any platform different from PC. So, let’s wait and check the news periodically. When these plans are revealed, every site covering gaming will hurry to write about it. We may assume porting it to Xbox from Windows will be easier, but the publishers may prefer to hit various platforms simultaneously.
Have you played Poppy Playtime? Do you wonder what comes next? Would you rather play it on a console or on a PC? Or maybe on Nintendo Switch? Let’s share our experiences and impressions in the comments below!
