Today, a ninth hotfix was issued by Larian Studios for Baldur's Gate 3. The two major improvements in this minor update emphasize the option to modify your protagonist's moniker and the way Hirelings visually appear via the Magic Mirror, an addition brought with Patch 3.
The release addresses a unique crash issue that could sporadically arise when loading or saving a game quickly. It resolves a hiccup causing GPU crashes in the PS5 Vulkan version. It eliminates the recurrent occurrence of the Guardian Statue falling into an abyss, which creates server lagging.
For PS5 users, a correction has been made to prevent a blackout screen that could arise when eavesdropping on a conversation in split-screen mode. There's also a fix for the issue whereby unprepared spells didn't dismiss their enhancements if the spell was upgraded.
The anomalies observed in certain dialogues, such as characters' positions and animations failing if lines were skipped, have also been fixed. Moreover, the developers remedied a problem making Minthara's love interest not consistently activate.
The hotfix also resolved visual effects related to the Adamantine Splint Armour, which sometimes rendered characters' lower limbs invisible. There was also the correction of an issue where characters appeared in their underwear in intimate scenes with nudity selected. The trouble forcing Feign Death into an endless exit-entry combat rotation in certain scenarios has also been addressed.
Baldur's Gate 3, now available on PC and PlayStation 5, is leading the Game of the Year awards after its near-perfect reception. There are also plans to release the game on Xbox Series S|X by the end of the year, although no definite date has been given by Larian.
In other news, the studio is possibly considering a global retail roll-out for the PS5 version of the game. This development is already in progress, albeit just in Japan for now.
In summary, Larian Studios' ninth hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3 delivers a number of important bug fixes and enhancements, further consolidating the game's standing among players and critics alike. As the studio continues to refine and expand the gaming experience, including a forthcoming release on Xbox Series S|X, Baldur's Gate 3 remains at the forefront of the gaming industry's most anticipated titles, edging closer to a potential Game of the Year award triumph.
