While many companies are looking to deepen their incorporation of AI, it appears that Microsoft is doing the opposite, particularly when considering its offerings for Cortana to Windows users.
According to a recent post on the Support page, it has been announced that Cortana, an AI named after the Halo AI character, will no longer have a dedicated app on Windows 11. Later this year, likely in the fall, it will also be removed from Teams and Teams Mobile, but will continue to function in Microsoft Outlook.
Although there's no explicit statement that Microsoft intends to abandon Cortana AI, the indications suggest they are planning to distance themselves from this technology.
